James McLeod Award and David Bronsen Prize go to promising undergraduates

Three graduating seniors will receive our departmental prizes on May 21.

Rhea Jin will receive the James McLeod Award for Achievement in German; Nicci Mowszowski and Yutong Zhang will both receive the David Bronsen Prize for Excellence in German.

The James McLeod Award for Achievement in German was established in honor of Dean James McLeod, an esteemed professor in the German Department, as well as an exceptional colleague and mentor. The award is given to a graduating German major on the basis of overall excellence in German studies and in extracurricular involvement in departmental activities. Rhea was an active member of Delta Phi Alpha and held an officer position each year, most recently as president.

The David Bronsen Prize for Excellence in German was established in honor of Professor David Bronsen, a distinguished scholar, teacher, and long-time member of the German Department. The prize is awarded to a graduating German major on the basis of excellent German language skills and superior academic achievement.

The German department congratulates Rhea, Nicci, and Yutong and wishes them the best in their post-graduate endeavors!
