Advanced German: Core Course V

GERMANIC LANGUAGES AND LITERATURES 301D

Discussion of literary and non-literary texts combined with an intensive grammar review, focused on German culture and history in the 20th century. The emphasis is on spoken and written communication, although all communicative skills will be practiced. By means of written assignments and oral discussions in class, students will develop greater ease of communication through grammar review, active participation, and exposure to new idioms and vocabulary in the reading texts. The course prepares students to discuss a wide range of topics more comfortably in German. Prereq: German 202D, the equivalent, or placement by examination. Students who complete this course successfully should enter German 302D. 3 units.
