Peter Ogunniran featured as graduate student speaker in Ring Their Names Virtual Vigil

Peter Ogunniran, PhD student in German & Comparative Literature, was one of two students selected to speak during the Ring Their Names Virtual Vigil.

When their names are ringing, their stories are shared, their lives are honored, their spirit is remembered, they become guiding ancestors, and their names and stories provide us with purpose.

Members of the WashU community joined each other in a vigil to honor the Black lives, cis and transgender, who were murdered in recent months in racist incidents or through police brutality. There were reflections from a few speakers and a shared moment of silence. Our community may be physically apart, but this was a moment in which we were together virtually.

The event was sponsored by the University's Center for Diversity and Inclusion.
