This graduate course serves as an introduction to the structure of the German language and to linguistic theory: phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, as well as semiotic, pragmatic, and sociolinguistical theories. Prerequisite: Undergraduates may only take this course with permission of the Director of Graduate Studies.
