Presented by Lutz Koepnick

Presented by film and media scholar Lutz Koepnick of Washington University in St. Louis, this program addresses how contemporary art cinema and video art explore the issue of theatricality in the time-based medium of film. Koepnick will feature excerpts of films and videos by, among others, Francis Alÿs, Tacita Dean, Werner Herzog, Tsai Ming-Liang,and Béla Tarr, and discuss this work’s orchestration of time in relationship to the photographs in the Saint Louis Art Museum’s exhibition An Orchestrated Vision: The Theater of Contemporary Photography currently on view.
