Beginning Assistant Professor of German, tenure track, starting fall semester 2013, PhD in hand at time of appointment. Area of specialization: post-1750 German literature and culture; candidates are expected to show strong dedication to innovative research in more than one field of inquiry that will result in a substantial publication record. The scholar will participate in the undergraduate program on all levels of instruction, including the beginning language program, and in the graduate program.
The successful candidate must also be prepared to develop undergraduate courses that contribute programmatically to adjacent areas such as Art History; Comparative Literature; Film and Media Studies; the Humanities; International and Area Studies; Jewish Studies; Music; Philosophy; or Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Excellence in teaching and scholarship required; service commitment (e.g., advising students, participating in various departmental obligations, university service) is expected.
