"Designing with Digital Tools to Integrate Interlanguage Pragmatic Instruction" - Foreign Language Learning Colloquium Speaker Series Workshop

Dr. Julie Sykes, University of Oregon
In this workshop, we will take a hands-on approach to creating materials for pragmatic instruction in the language classroom. Utilizing a framework designed to engage learners throughout the lesson, participants will explore three stages of pragmatic instruction – observation, analysis, and extension. For each stage, we will explore sample materials, brainstorm new ideas, and gain experience with relevant digital tools that can facilitate interlanguage pragmatic development.
The Washington University Foreign Language Learning Colloquium Speaker Series is sponsored by the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures; the Department of Psychology; the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures; the Department of Jewish, Islamic and Near Eastern Languages and Cultures; the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, the Department of Education, and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
